The Feeling of Giving

Today was an especially unique day for all of us. Unfortunately, it was our final day of service here in the Dominican, but we managed to accomplish great things and create wonderful and memorable experiences along the way. It was so inspiring, so moving to once again come together like a group, a team, a family. At one point, after getting to know some of the local kids, a very special moment for me happened before we got on the bus to head back home. After painting along with and taking several pictures with this kid and other kids throughout the day, Isaac asked me what my name was again and I responded “Juan,” and he replied “that’s my dad’s name,” as he looked up at me and smiled. Immediately after, another one of the little kids ran up to me and gave me a high five just as I was getting on the bus. After that moment I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore and the amount of joy and sheer warmth that I felt was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. Thank you guys, all the fellow students and the Ryan Nece Foundation, for shaping me into who I am today and allowing me to share all these tremendous experiences with you all.
