The Grand Conclusion

The sense of completion was phenomenal. The amalgamation of tribulations and trying events that had prefaced the finale of today had wholly contributed to the serene and blissful experience that was the introspection of my sacrificed time and effort for Mr. Minh; the restoration of his property was more than just a physical accomplishment. The installation of the floorboards, the application of caulk to the intricately shaped and cut trims — all done for an individual whose time was spent selflessly helping his family’s houses before his own — metaphysically represented the ability for humans to pour into others and assist in times of calamity. Today was the day of conclusion for our 3-day task of house restoration in Panama City, where the impact of Hurricane Michael holds utmost prevalence amongst the populace. The tumultuous ambition of each student reverberated throughout every hour and every minute; everyone strived to help those who required it. This trip has indefinitely shifted my perspective on natural disasters and the need for immediate action that follows suit. As T.S. Eliott says in “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock”, “In a minute there is time for decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.” Each and every student in this program put in an attempt to revise the turmoil that had risen from Hurricane Michael, and ultimately succeeded in their manners and endeavors.
