The Ryan Nece Foundation is thrilled to welcome Dominique Bocanegra to our team as California Programs Coordinator, a role that marks an exciting new chapter as the Ryan Nece Foundation brings the Power of Giving to the Bay Area.
A proud Bay Area native, Dominique joins the Ryan Nece Foundation with a career built entirely around one throughline: Developing young people into confident, capable leaders. She earned her Bachelor’s degree cum laude from Chaminade University of Honolulu, where she competed as an NCAA Division II two-sport student-athlete, and later completed a Graduate Certificate in Organizational Behavior at Harvard Extension School. Along the way, she has led community activations and youth leadership initiatives for organizations including the Golden State Valkyries, San Francisco 49ers Foundation, and Harvard University, most recently serving as part of the inaugural Community Impact department for the Golden State Valkyries in 2025.
“As a proud Bay Area native, joining the Ryan Nece Foundation feels like a full-circle opportunity to champion The Power of Giving in my own community,” Dominique shared. “My entire career has been driven by a passion for youth mentorship, and I am energized to lead this expansion and equip our next generation of servant leaders.”
That full-circle spirit is exactly why Dominique is the right person to help launch Ryan Nece Foundation’s California expansion. Her experience spans strategic stakeholder collaboration, corporate partner engagement, and hands-on mentorship with student-athletes… The same blend of relationship-building and program execution that has powered the Ryan Nece Foundation’s Student Service Club and Student Service Program model across Tampa Bay. Now, she’ll bring that expertise to building out the Ryan Nece Foundation’s presence in the Bay Area, working alongside schools, partners, and supporters to grow a new community of servant leaders.
A few things that make Dominique, Dominique:
- She’s as competitive with herself as she was on the court and field: She’s run the Boston Marathon (2023, representing the Dreamfar High School Marathon Program) and looks for ways to stay active wherever she is, from swimming to fitness classes.
- Travel, for her, means learning from the people who live there. She makes a point of taking a cooking class from a local community member on every vacation.
- She recently lived in Tokyo, Japan, where she coached girls’ basketball at the British School.
- As an undergraduate senior, she received the Community Service Award, an early sign of the path she’s still walking today.
- Above all, she never misses a chance to celebrate the people in her life, family and friends alike.
