Meet Our May Interns: Jacob Burke & Lauren Ginns

Here at the Ryan Nece Foundation, we believe that servant leadership isn’t just something we teach: It’s something we live every day. So when Tampa Prep reached out about their Senior Internship Program, saying “yes” was an easy decision.

This month, we are thrilled to welcome two of Tampa Prep’s brightest seniors to the Ryan Nece Foundation team: Jacob Burke and Lauren Ginns.

Jacob and Lauren are spending three weeks with us as part of Tampa Prep’s capstone senior internship experience, which is a mandatory program designed to give students a real-world window into professional life before they head off to their next chapter. And we think they chose pretty well.

What They’ll Be Working On

Jacob and Lauren are diving headfirst into one of our most exciting content projects of the year: The Alumni Series: Where Are They Now?

This series spotlights former student participants who went through our Student Service Program and are now out in the world making a difference. It’s a chance to show the lasting impact of servant leadership, told in the words of the students who lived it.

Over the course of their internship, Jacob and Lauren will be:

  • Researching and connecting with alumni to gather their stories
  • Conducting interviews and capturing reflections on how their time with shaped who they are today
  • Writing and editing the alumni profiles for our website and social media channels
  • Supporting social media content creation to help amplify our 20th Anniversary campaign

Why This Matters

The Where Are They Now? alumni series is more than a feel-good feature… It’s a living testament to the mission of the Ryan Nece Foundation. Every story we share is proof that when you give teens the tools to serve, something powerful happens. They don’t just become better students. They become better humans.

Jacob and Lauren are already embodying that spirit by choosing to spend their final weeks of high school giving back through their time and talents.

We’re proud to be a stop on their journey!

A Note of Thanks

A huge thank you to Maggie Thomas and the team at Tampa Prep for connecting us with two such talented young people, and for building a program that sends students out into the community ready to contribute.

And to Jacob and Lauren: Welcome to the team! We can’t wait to see what stories you’ll tell.
