Where Are They Now? – Alekya Lingamaneni

Update us! What has been going on with you since you went through the Student Service Program (SSP)? What are you doing now?

Since going through SSP, I’ve graduated from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. I’m about to start working my first full-time job in Marketing with IBM in New York City.

Would you say the SSP influenced your life? If so, how?

Yes, SSP has taught me that I have more power than I thought – our infamous saying, “If not you, then who?” has motivated me to be a self-starter and accomplish projects and goals that I would have never imagined possible. The program has also motivated me to be more involved in my local community – Largo, Tampa, and beyond.

What is your favorite memory from the program?

My favorite memories from the program involved meeting the other students from the Tampa area. I never got the chance to closely work with diverse students that also had a passion for giving back to their community. Our service trip to Flint, Michigan created many fun memories that inspired me to make volunteering an activity that I can participate in with friends.
