On our last day here in Asheville, we woke up bright and early at 6:30 AM to head out for the day. While eating breakfast, we shared three facts and explained them to our partner. Then, we had the opportunity to talk about these facts among the room. At our volunteer site, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, we spilt among groups to perform different tasks: One group went to the main neighborhood in Glenn Bridge from yesterday to continue the work, and the other group went to a site called New Heights.

Glenn Bridge Build
The group that went to Glenn Bridge worked on various tasks. We built some stairs for a house under construction and also put in doorknobs and cleaned up inside the house. The stairs were a continuation from Jack and Yash’s work yesterday as they had built the foundation for the stairs. We also installed foam board to prepare a house for siding, and in doing so, found a very cute cat named Taps that we played with during the break.

New Heights
The group that went to New Heights did some landscaping around new houses. They pulled weeds, poured mulch, moved plants and much more under the bright sun.

Lunch & Jump Off Rock
All the groups departed at noon to go get food at the grocery store Ingles where we all enjoyed a variety of different foods. Then, we went to Jump Off Rock, a beautiful sight on the top of a mountain that overlooked Asheville. Some of the students explored around the forests and trails that the mountain had to offer and did cartwheels and handstands under the sun.

Wrapping Up
We then headed off to the airport to get ready for our flight back to Greater Tampa Bay. Our time in Asheville was very impactful and meaningful, and we would come back in a heartbeat. Goodbye, Asheville!
