Grace Brill is a member of the 2017 Student Service Program (SSP). Currently, Grace is a junior at Florida State University where she studies Computer Science and Mathematics.
Grace is applying what she learned from the SSP by putting “if not you, then who” into action through her undergraduate research focusing on quantitative ecology. During her freshman year, Grace studied the relationship between tropical rainforest canopy temperature and productivity using deep learning methods. Since her sophomore year, Grace has been involved with sea turtle research studying the adaptive capacity of sea turtles using computer modeling. This past summer, Grace conducted field work with her lab at St. George Island helping tag and measure sea turtles, install inundation HOBO loggers near nests, and organize data.
Outside of the lab, Grace is highly involved as a student leader. At Florida State, she has served as the Chair of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Leadership Council, executive member of the Honors Student Association, Honors Colloquium Leader, and executive member of the Women in Math, Science, and Engineering organization.
This summer, Grace will be interning at Jefferies in New York City. In her senior year, she hopes to pursue a deferred MBA, which would allow her to spend 2 years working then have guaranteed spot for a 2-year MBA program. In her future, Grace is interested in venture capital and impact investing.
