Women’s History Month Inspiring Women: Madison Barse

In celebration of Women’s History Month, we will be sharing inspirational women throughout this month. Today, we are celebrating Madison Barse (Student Service Program Class of 2016). Madison is a junior at Florida State University majoring in Marketing and minoring in Retail Entrepreneurship. She is the owner of Full Herizon and host of the SUNDAYS podcast.Inspiration Behind Full Herizon

“I have always known in my heart that I wanted to do something bigger than myself that involved spreading kindness and women empowerment. I danced for over 11 years when I was younger and through that experience, I developed a lot of insecurities about the way that I looked and weighed. Years later, I started my own self-love journey and wanted to help other women find ways to celebrate the skin that they are in. My earring cards include women of all ethnicities, shapes, and sizes to help spark a revolution against the typical beauty standard. I want to be a part of the change. I always ask myself if not you, then who?”

What Does the Power of Giving Mean to You?

“To me, the Power of Giving means one person can truly make a difference. This concept led me to start my own business. After attending countless community service events and speaking with so many incredible leaders through the Student Service Program, I found that each inspiring impact started with the first initial decision to start.”

How did the Student Service Program Prepare You for Life After High School?

“I have learned lessons that no textbook or classroom setting could ever teach you. I have been able to see the world through a new lens. The Ryan Nece Foundation has taught me that you do not need thousands of dollars or all the time in the world to make a difference. The Student Service Program showed me that when you match your passion with giving back the impact you make on the community is effortless. Now, I actively find ways I can spread kindness in my daily routine.”

Advice to Your 16-Year-Old Self

“Take everything day-by-day. If you have a dream to start your own business or to get into your dream college, break that goal down into smaller stages. Maybe that is studying for 30 minutes every day for the ACT to increase your test score or reaching out to mentors in the field that you want to get into. Nothing is an overnight success-it takes millions of small steps.”
