Orientation Retreat Recap

Student Service Program members met for an Orientation Retreat last week!

Twenty-two of our 25 new Student Service Program members met August 4th and August 5th for an overnight Orientation Retreat, where they were able to form early connections with their peers.

McKibbon Hospitality hotel, the Hampton Inn & Suites at Clearwater Beach, served as a fun and relaxing location, which allowed us to conduct teambuilding on the beach. We even saw some dolphins!

In addition to teambuilding, the students began discussions around leadership, personality types, and learning styles. Students heard from Tampa business leader, El Ellsasser with PrimeGroup Insurance, on goal setting, which will be a common theme throughout their first-year program curriculum. Students were also able to Zoom with Ryan, who shared how they could make the most of their experiences with the Ryan Nece Foundation.

This retreat included the students’ first service activity, which was donating new socks and underwear to Clothes To Kids. Clothes To Kids envisions a community in which every school-age child has quality clothing so that he or she may attend school with the confidence and self-esteem needed to achieve academic success. Our Student Service Program members will volunteer at the three Clothes To Kids store locations throughout Saturdays in September.

Special thanks to all who helped make these experiences possible for our students!
