Painting with a twist

On the second day of our service trip we showed up to our work site and got right to work. We started out putting the trim on the border of the walls that we painted yesterday. After a couple of minutes, I decided that my skills could be used elsewhere. So I asked our project leader Sophie if I could start painting the bathroom which hasn’t been touched yet. As we painted we sung along to music and danced to the songs that were playing off the speaker. After lunch, we went back to the site and added our second coat of paint to the bathroom walls and added the finishing touches. After we were all done with painting the bathroom a group of us went outside to clean the materials that we used today. That was probably the most fun part of the day, as we sat down and reflected on how the trip has been going. This trip has really opened my eyes to the tragic event that happened in the Panhandle. The fact they haven’t gotten a lot of help and we are some of the first people to help really shows that we as a community care. All around I would say that today was amazing and I am so excited to get back to it tomorrow.
