SW FL Service-Learning Trip: Day 6 Recap

On the sixth day of our service-learning trip, we went back to Wintergarden Presbyterian Church to finish our work on the gazebo and help with their weekly food distribution.

Food Pantry

While the gazebo group finished that project, the rest of us volunteered helping to hand out food boxes to the community. We really enjoyed talking and getting to know the community, and seeing all the smiles on the faces of the families as we handed out the boxes of food.

Grounds Cleanup

We also helped pick up trash around the church grounds. Due to the volunteers staying there as the location serves as a primary disaster-relief hub in the area, trash had accumulated overtime and was building up. We also helped sort out crates for the food pantry, which is going to help eliminate the overuse of cardboard boxes.

In service,

Courtney Johnson, Lennard High School
